I'm pretty sure this is covered somewhere in the very lengthy documentation but I figured I would ask for the others who also haven't read it.

What is the method of intercore communication? Are there IRQs? Are there buffered interfaces for async communication? Is it 100% software? I come from an XMOS background where it's all automagic, so i'm really hoping if it's all software that there are routines to mimic the XC style of automagicness.

yeah, i like programming all my cores independently because while advanced as they are, compilers are still dumb. only human but still smarter than the machine (for now?).

Check out the latest Epiphany SDK. It has a lot of improvements in terms of inter-core communication:
