As of this date, no fix for the bash problems have been posted. When might we expect to see them?

Thank you for your detailed instructions and I will make use of them. However, I would expect the combination of
sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get upgrade
to retrieve the current updates for the system. The bash bug is so bad that it has everyone's attention. I'm sure there are many other fixes and updates that should be available, but I have not seen any updates in some time. There is a significant fix for problems in the openssl libraries that have made all the distributions I am aware of.

Thank you for you instructions. After making the changes, there were 182 updates to be applied and, happily, the fix to bash was included.
