NASA Space Robotics Team forming
Posted: Sun Nov 06, 2016 9:17 pm
We haven't submited the final team roster yet or received our code package. So we are still recruiting team members.
There are 405 teams pre registered. Only 29 teams make it through the qualifying round.
Fortuantely, NASA left the door open and we downloaded the competition software and have the two qualifying tasks mostly complete with 9 weeks to spare.
Since teams can run as many simulations as they want, we were looking to supercomputing resources to run thousand or millions of genetically modified simulation runs to coverge on the fastest possible robot control algorithm.
I am looking at the parallela board(s) as a possible platform. The simulation code must run on Unbuntu 14.04. But the software "nodes", we write can run on any thing, in any language. So both the evolving GP path planner, vision alorithms, etc could run one or more Parallela boards.
Anyone want to belly up to the bar and help?
We will set up one or more servers here to run the simulation code and team mebers can write code for the task from anywhere in the world. There is a list of restricted countries, So if you are a citizen of these countries you can be on the team Sorry.
