Parallella Community

I purchased a server version of the Parallella, have the micro SD card (only 8 GB), power supply, fan, etc. Now I'm ready to burn the distro image but if I look at the FTP site under Ubuntu/trusty I see:

ubuntu-14.04-headless-z7020-20141110.img.gz

Is this the proper image file for a headless system? Also, where do I find the kernel and .bin files? What's the difference between 7010 and 7020 files? I'm guessing that I need the 7020 ones.

Lastly, what IP address is the image using and what username/password?

You might want to try the new beta SDK, available at .

According to the web page, the "Parallella-16 Micro Server" uses a Xilinx Zynq Z7010, so if you have that board, you need the 7010-image. The kernel, devicetree and bitstream files are included in the (beta) image, so if image and board match, it should boot out of the box. You can check the BOOT partition manually, if the required files are not there, you need to provide them yourself.

For the older images, the username and passwort both are "linaro". For the newer beta images, both username and password are "parallella".

After boot, the boards try to get their IP addresses via DHCP. I do not know of any fallback solutions if there is no DHCP server available.
